Fafe (home)
- Fafe are on a roll and have had a month to get ready for Sunday’s vital league match at home to Sporting Braga B.
- They stunned Braga’s senior team 2-1 in the Taça de Portugal at the end of January and followed that up with a 4-0 away win over mid-table São João de Ver.
- However, Mário Ferreira’s men did lose at Vitória SC B and drew 2-2 at home to Braga B in January, so they can be hard to predict.
Braga B (away)
- Braga B’s form has been a little better, but Simão Freitas’ side have also been guilty of inconsistent results in December and January.
- Braga B finished outside the automatic promotion spots in Liga 3 Série A in 2025-2026, starting the maintenance phase with 8 points, two ahead of Fafe’s 6, and will need to keep their heads above water in this maintenance phase of the 2025-2026 season.
- The visitors have more points on the board and are the team with the better form, but home advantage and Fafe’s recent heroics against the senior side from Braga makes the hosts the slight favourites.
Head-to-Head
The head-to-head record between these two sides in Liga 3 is even with each side winning four and drawing four of their dozen clashes since 2016.
Fafe
- Fafe play a 4-3-3 system, but are a compact, disciplined unit that are at their best when they can counter-attack at pace or punish opponents from set-pieces.
- Fafe’s best chance of success will come from the counter and dead-ball situations and João Vigário is the chief creator for them, being top of the team’s assist charts, while Diogo Castro and Leandro Teixeira are also capable of coming up with goals at the right time.
- Picas is among the club’s top scorers this season and has a knack of popping up with a goal from nowhere.
Braga B
- João Vasconcelos is Braga B’s midfield dynamo and he notched in the 2-2 draw in January.
-
The visitors’ forward line is full of young talent with:
- João Aragão
- João Lomba
- Tiago Ferreira
- Luisinho adds a little more experience to the mix and has a habit of turning up in the big games and getting the important goals - like his last-gasp equaliser at Fafe in January.
Betting Insights
- Fafe are the bookmakers’ favorites at 1.59 for Sunday’s match with Braga B the long shots at 5.24.
- The Under 2.5 Goals option at 1.71 is tempting given how the two sides have played each other in the past, but home field advantage and the cup win over Braga’s first team could see the hosts get the job done.
Prediction
A home win or tie is a strong play although Braga B start the maintenance phase two points clear.
